Seal and Becky G in Mountain Dew’s Baja Blast Commercial
One of Mountain Dew’s most talked-about recent ads features Seal and Becky G. In the spot, Seal performs a Baja Blast-themed parody of his famous song while appearing as an actual seal. Becky G helps introduce the surreal tropical setup, making the ad feel like a music video, comedy sketch, and Super Bowl stunt all at once.
The commercial works because it fully commits to the joke. Mountain Dew has always leaned into wild creative choices, and turning Seal into a seal is exactly the kind of strange, memorable idea the brand likes to use.
Acting Breakdown
The acting style in Mountain Dew commercials is bold and high-energy. Seal’s performance is funny because he sings with real seriousness while the visual gag around him becomes more ridiculous. Becky G plays the commercial with relaxed star presence, helping ground the absurdity.
Mountain Dew performers usually need to be willing to look silly, move fast, and sell a big idea in just a few seconds. That is why the brand often works best with musicians, athletes, comedians, and performers who already have strong screen personalities.
