In 1947, Christian Dior launched a perfume that would become a house icon: Miss Dior, named in honor of his sister, Catherine Dior, affectionately known as “Miss Dior.”

The original formula, crafted by Paul Vacher and Jean Carles, was a bold floral-chypre, with notes of leather, galbanum, patchouli, oak, rose, and jasmine.

Beyond it being just a fragrance, it was a tribute — Catherine had courageously served in the French Resistance during World War II, and the perfume was a gesture of Dior’s deep familial respect and love.

Over the decades, Miss Dior evolved. One of the most famous iterations came in 2005 — Miss Dior Chérie, devised by Christine Nagel — introducing youthful, playful notes like strawberry and popcorn.

But in 2012, Christine Nagel’s Chérie line was reformulated by François Demachy and brought back under the simpler “Miss Dior” name.

By 2021, Dior introduced a new Eau de Parfum version of Miss Dior, again under François Demachy.

This formula leaned into soft florals: peony, iris, lily-of-the-valley, underpinned by smooth base notes of vanilla, musk, and tonka.

It was a gentler, more romantic iteration — a perfume that felt like a whisper, elegant and modern.

Yet the story didn’t end there. In 2024, Dior reimagined Miss Dior again, this time with Miss Dior Parfum, crafted under the guidance of the house’s new Creative Director of Perfume, Francis Kurkdjian.

In this rich, intense reinterpretation, Dior returned to some of the fragrance’s roots — jasmine plays a central role, but now with a fruity, modern twist.
